Sekundarni povzetek: | Speculative fiction is a literary genre, closely connected to science fiction, where we often encounter an unreliable narrator. The term speculative fiction was thus far not used in Slovenian literary theory, so the first part of my thesis revolves around establishing the origin of the term and presents the polemical discussion that followed the various definitions of it by experts in the field. The second part of the thesis is focused on theoretical analysis of unreliable narrator and methods of focalization. I present two different examples of this type of narration in speculative fiction, focusing on Jimmy from the Margaret Atwood novel Oryx and Crake and on Charlie Gordon from Daniel Keyes novel Flowers for Algernon. |
