(diplomsko delo)
Raziskovalna metodologija: Pri pisanju diplomskega dela smo uporabili deskriptivno metodo dela.

Interventions for preventions of burnout syndrome of nurses working in intensive care units |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
Theoretical starting point: Burnout syndrome is defined as a chronic state of extreme psycho-physical and emotional exhaustion and is one of the most common causes of absenteeism in nurses in the intensive care unit. The side effects of burnout syndrome can show as depression, chronic exhaustion, lower self-esteem and panic attacks. The purpose of this undergraduate thesis is to present the interventions that can help nurses in intensive care units relieve the symptoms of burnout syndrome.
Methodology: We used a descriptive work method when writhing this thesis. The literature was obtained using the PubMed, Sage Journals and Cinahl databases. A systematic review of professional and scientific literature was used. We included 13 studies in the final analysis.
Results: Nurses can improve their mental health with smaller interventions such as talking to older colleagues about their problems and unpleasant events during working hours, a good idea would be monthly meetings where the nurses could talk about unpleasant events that occurred during working days. Also one of the interventions that could be usefull in reducing symptoms of burnout syndrome is switching off the lights for a period of time and reducing noise. Mindfulness training and training to improve communication skills have also proven to be an effective intervention.
Discussion and conclusion: Nurses in intensive care units show great care and compassion to their patients, forgetting themselves at a rapid and intense pace, and often becoming overly exhausted and tired. Nursing prevention interventions offer nurses the opportunity to reduce negative symptoms. Therefore, it is crucial that more researchers start to investigate towards the prevention and treatment of burnout syndrome. |
