Sekundarni naslov: | Psychological Aspects of the Investigative Interview |
Sekundarni povzetek: | Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to present the recent findings and knowledge related to suggestibility of different aged children during the investigative interview. If the aim of various studies is to predict which children will succumb to suggestions and which will not, it is necessary to further explore also this individual variation within each age group. Design/Methods/Approach: The article is based on a review of findings and presentation of scientific and professional contributions that are critically presented. Findings: Ever more often, experts stress the significance of individual differences within a single age group. The likelihood that explicitly provided false information will affect children’s reporting about a specific event is much higher among pre-school children than among older children or adults. The social and cognitive mechanisms behind the effects of suggestibility vary considerably depending on the form of the interview (e.g. an answer that needs to be formulated requires greater language and memory skills than when it is necessary to merely identify the correct answer). Practical Implications: Findings brought by the paper are not sufficiently present in investigative practice, so the paper can also be a source of information for investigators. Originality/Value: The paper is primarily intended for a wider public and leading institutions that carry out various informative interviews. The findings can be useful in investigative practice and thereby contribute significantly to the accuracy and validity of the information obtained. |
