Sekundarni naslov: The awareness of parents about providing the first aid at teeh injuries
Sekundarni povzetek: Introduction: Teeth injuries most commonly happen during childhood and adolescence period. Children usually get injures at home, so it is essential for parents to know how to correctly react at injuries, because the prognosis of the injured teeth depends on it. The main purpose of the final thesis is to present teeth injuries of children and adolescents which were treated in one of the specialist department for paediatric dentistry and to check parents’ awareness about providing first aid at teeth injuries. Methods: We used a quantitative research methodology. We have analysed data about children and adolescents who have suffered a tooth injury and were treated at one of the specialist department for paediatric dentistry. We have been checking parents’ awareness about providing the first aid at teeth injuries with the use of a questionnaire-based internet survey 1ka. All collected data were presented with the tables and description. Results: We have noted that in most cases children and adolescents damage their upper incisor during a fall or with getting hits in their teeth and that can lead to an injury of a tooth crown, shaking of the tooth and also tooth avulsion. These injuries in most cases happen at home environment. Research has shown that parents are well-informed about providing first aid at teeth injuries, but they have a lack of knowledge about how to deal with a tooth avulsion. Conclusion: Parents do not feel capable to insert avulsed permanent tooth to its former place, because they did not come across similar situation or hear about it, and they expect more trainings on this subject.
