Sekundarni naslov: | Optimizing a BGO Scintillation Detector for DEGAS detector array |
Sekundarni povzetek: | The goal of this project is to optimize the DEGAS BGO scintillation detector with silicon photomultipliers (SiPM), to be used in experiments by the FAIR/NUSTAR collaboration. The scintillation crystal is in the shape of a hexagonal prism with one of the corners cylindrically cut from the rest of the crytal, due to spatial limitations of the DEGAS detector array. During the prototype design, an apropriate reflector foil and the lowest sufficient number of SiPMs needed to be selected for the detector to properly function in veto mode for background events and Compton scattered gamma rays. For that purpose I made computer simulations with various combinations of reflectors and numbers of SiPMs. The process used to design and test the readout, biasing and power supply electronics is described and at the end some first measurements are presented. |
