V teoretičnem delu smo s pregledom domače in tuje strokovne literature prikazali pomen znanja in izobraževanja ter značilnosti današnje družbe in organizacij. Podrobneje smo predstavili pomen razvoja osebnih asistentov. Povzeli smo teoretična izhodišča izobraževanja in usposabljanja zaposlenih. V nadaljevanju smo opisali pomen neodvisnega življenja in osebne asistence.

Sekundarni naslov: Training of personal assistants for the needs of the independent living of persons with disabilities in the republic of slovenia
Sekundarni povzetek: The master's thesis was created with the aim of understanding (developing) a new profession in healthcare and social care which began to develop more intensively in Slovenia with the enactment of the Personal Assistance Act. In it, we discuss the qualifications of personal assistants which are an important part of the independent life of people with disabilities. In the theoretical part, we reviewed domestic and foreign professional literature to show the importance of knowledge and education, as well as the characteristics of today's society and organizations. We presented in more detail the importance of developing personal assistants. We summarized the theoretical starting points of employee education and training. The following describes the importance of independent living and personal assistance. We presented YHD – Society for the Theory and Culture of Handicap and the Association of Paraplegics where we conducted a survey. Users of personal assistance, the profession of the personal assistant, the necessary education and training opportunities are also presented. The survey confirmed our predictions. We found that, in general, we cannot talk about the proper training of personal assistants. On the one hand, we find average to higher assessments of knowledge of the field and a lower level of problems and, on the other hand, the distress in which assistants find themselves, their opinion about the work, and a high desire for additional education and training. We also found that there are differences in the scope of training and education that personal assistants receive in different associations. Based on the findings, we propose the implementation of an appropriate training program for personal assistants within the National Vocational Qualification and the creation of a professional profile.
