Uporabili smo kvantitativno metodologijo raziskovanja in deskriptivno metodo dela.
Zdravstveni delavci bomo morali bolje izvajati zdravstveno vzgojo v celotni družbi. Ljudje morajo biti osveščeni s strokovnimi informacijami o otrocih s cerebralno paralizo, saj mladi večino laičnih informacij izvedo drugod.

Awareness of the youth about cerebral palsy |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
Cerebral palsy is the most common permanent form of disability among children. People with disabilities are often target of prejudice, therefore people with cerebral palsy face both health challenges posed by this form of disability and how society treats them. Various stereotypes and unknowing of cerebral palsy often cause social exclusion which causes lower self-esteem and emotional problems.
We used a quantitative research methodology and a descriptive method of work. As a research instrument we used structured questionnaire. The survey was conducted from September to December and was completed by 545 respondents aged between 18 and 24 years. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics.
We found that most young people had already heard of cerebral palsy, but we found that young people weren't sufficiently aware of this mental development disorder (89% of respondents). The results showed that young people's opinion of people with cerebral palsy is divided and prejudices are still present, as a proportion of young people still believe that children with cerebral palsy shouldn't be able to socialize with peers who don't have it.
Better awareness of young people about cerebral palsy is needed, as we observe misconceptions among young people. Health professionals should better implement health education throughout society. People need to be made aware of expert information about cerebral palsy, because most of youth find lay information elsewhere. |
