Povzetek

Paliativna oskrba si v slovenskem prostoru nekako utira pravo pot.

Sekundarni povzetek: Palliative care is still making its way into Slovenian area. People are still avoiding this issue, which is a major obstacle in the development of this urgently needed type of care. Knowledge and understanding of palliative care, dying and grief process is the basis for every health visitor nurse, which uses her sensibility and proper therapeutic communication to prepare the patient for an open view of death. The purpose of the thesis is to determine how nurses are trained and prepared for this kind of care, how often palliative care is carried out and what problems they face in doing so. This paper presents a research work, which was carried out with forty health visitor nurses, employed in Dr. Adolf Drolc Maribor Health Centre. Results have shown that 52,2% of health visitor nurses meet with palliative care daily, according to survey answers, the others do so on a weekly or monthly basis. Of all the surveyed health visitor nurses, 80% feel they have enough professional skills, but they still lack guidance on such care, since 40% of respondents wanted more professional palliative guidelines. Although palliative care still paves its way in Slovenia, there is great awareness about it among health visitor nurses, patients and relatives. Many of them even establish contact with the Slovenian hospic society.
