Povzetek
V sodelovanju s podjetjem Compedu, d.o.o. smo uspešno prenesli obstoječi izobraževalni tečaj v virtualno okolje in s pomočjo uporabe najnovejših tehnologij računalništva v oblaku izvedbo samega tečaja dvigniti na novo raven.
Podjetje se je, zaradi nenehne potrebe po nakupu vedno novejše ter s tem posledično dražje opreme, odločilo za prenovo izvedb izobraževanj. Problem sta predstavljala tudi priprava tečaja ter logistika, saj je vsakokratna priprava okolja terjala tudi do tri dni. Podjetje Compedu, d.o.o. je z virtualizacijo izvedbe šolanj želelo prihraniti na stroških nakupa nove opreme in času priprave izvedbe tečajev.
Odločili smo se za uporabo programske opreme VMware vSphere 4.1, ki je namenjena delu z virtualnimi okolji. Pripravili smo celotno virtualno okolje za izvedbo tečaja na enem samem fizičnem strežniku, kot je opisano v navodilih za izvedbo tečaja. V virtualnem okolju smo pripravili vse navidezne stroje, potrebne za izvedbo tečaja
Najprej smo se z direktorjem podjetja dogovorili o vseh podrobnostih testa, nato sta sledila priprava celotnega virtualnega okolja in test samega tečaja po navodilih za izvedbo izobraževanja. Zadnji in hkrati tudi najbolj ključni del naloge je predstavljala prva izvedba virtualizira¬nega tečaja za stranke, ki je bila uspešno izvedena.
Podjetje bo pripravljeno virtualno okolje lahko uporabilo za več izvedb šolanj, saj se le-to preprosto pre¬kopira v že prej pripravljene navidezne stroje, s tem pa se močno zmanjša čas priprave izvedbe posameznega tečaja. Virtualno okolje nam omogoča upravljanje z razporejanjem in optimiziranjem sredstev, ki jih posamezni tečaj potrebuje, po potrebi pa lahko dodajamo tudi nove fizične strežnike, kar poveča učinkovitost in prihrani stroške nakupa nove opreme.

We successfully transferred the delivery of the existing education course into a virtual environment in cooperation with a company called Compedu, d.o.o. We wanted to use the newest technologies, called Cloud Computing and take the training process onto a higher level.
The company decided to try out this transformation mainly due to high expenses, which occurred, whenever buying new and better equipment. The next reason was the amount of time needed for providing a basic preparation for the course. It took up to three days to prepare all the necessary machines and environment for the deployment.
We decided to use a software, called VMware vSphere 4.1, which manages and creates virtual environments. We have created the whole virtual environment, identical to the physical one, as described in the Course Lab Setup Guide. We have also created all the virtual machines needed for the users in order to be able to test the whole course exercises. The whole environment has been set using one physical server.
We have discussed all the details for the whole testing procedure with the company's CEO. After all the interviews have been finished, we have prepared the whole virtual testing environment and started with the testing, as described in the Student Exercise Guide. The final and the most crucial test for us was the first virtualized class delivery for actual students (customers).
The company could use the virtual environment we have prepared for several other training deliveries, as the virtual machines only need to be converted back to the beginning. Time needed for course delivery preparation has shortened and the ability to manage the resources for all courses and therefore optimize their usage has been gained. The company can even consolidate new servers to the virtual environment and add more resources to the pools at any time, which allows them to achieve a full efficiency of their physical servers and reduce the costs of buying new ones. |
