Zato smo v raziskavi spraševali študente fizioterapije o spremembah telesne aktivnosti in prehranskih navad v času COVID-19 epidemije. Metode: V raziskavi je sodelovalo 26 anketirancev (5 moških in 21 žensk). Uporabili smo anketna vprašalnika SIMPAQ in GPAQ. Študenti so izpolnili vprašalnika pred uvedeno karanteno ter v času omejevalnih ukrepov. Rezultati: Preiskovanci so bili telesno bolj aktivni v času omejevalnih ukrepov.

Physical activity and eating behaviour of physical therapy students during COVID-19 epidemic |

Introduction and purpose: In Slovenia COVID-19 epidemic was announced in March 2020. Therefore the 14-day quarantine was implemented. Consequently, the physical inactivity and sedentary time have increased among people as they stayed at home. The question was to what extent did the COVID-19 epidemic influence the students. Therefore, we asked the physical therapy students about their possible changes in physical activities and eating behaviour during the COVID-19 epidemic. Methods: The study included 26 students (5 men, 21 women). The SIMPAQ and GPAQ questionnaires were used. The students completed the questionnaires before and between the COVID-19 restrictions. Results: Participants were more physically active during the confinement. They spent 33 percent more minutes/day in moderate and vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and had 50 percent average increase in metabolic equivalent task units (METs). Males reported more vigorous physical activity, but females reported more moderate physical activity. Active transport time has also decreased by 15 percent. More sedentary time was measured among men. Eating behaviour hasn't changed among participants. Therefore, the results showed the opposite trend compared to the studies conducted abroad. Usability: Results show that it is possible to maintain physical activity during the confinement. Hence it is of essence to make people aware of the benefits that regular physical activity and healthy lifestyle have. Limitations: The study should have included more participants, who took part in the study before and between the COVID-19 confinement. |
