This master's thesis focuses on the optimization of logistics processes within the field of study. Collaborative efforts were made with the successful international company Elrad Electronics d.o.o., operating in the Pomurje region of Slovenia. Elrad Electronics specializes in manufacturing electronic assemblies, which are incorporated into final products by prominent European and global companies in various sectors/industries such as electric and garden tools, automotive industry, white goods, small household appliances, and others. Consequently, the company plays a crucial role in international supply chains. Recognizing the significance of logistics, Elrad Electronics strives for continuous improvement in this domain, although it has yet to establish an independent logistics department.
The theoretical segment of this thesis delves into the discipline of business logistics, encompassing its objectives, tasks, and historical development. Subsequently, our focus shifted towards exploring logistics subsystems within manufacturing companies, followed by an investigation into supply chain management. In this section, we examined the evolution and globalization of supply chains, delved into the origins of the concept, and compared expert opinions on supply chains with those regarding logistics.
In the practical part of this thesis, we begin with an introduction of Elrad Electronics d.o.o. and a comprehensive analysis of its existing logistics processes. We delve into the logistics subsystems within the company and examine the crucial business functions that contribute to its overall logistics framework. Moreover, we define the interrelationship among these key functions and address the conflicts that may arise between them. To enhance the company's logistics efficiency, we propose a set of optimization strategies and recommend the establishment of an independent logistics department within the organization. |
