diplomsko delo

Comparative analysis of elocution in the british royal family |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
The British royal family is considered one of the most recognizable in the world. Because of his authority, the monarch has the most important role in the royal family. Despite the fact that he has no political power, he is an important shaper of public opinion and the social climate. In the thesis, we analyzed the rhetoric of Queen Elizabeth II. and King Charles III. With analysis, we investigated the occurrence of ethos, pathos and logos in their speeches, and we found that the use of all persuasive means is more prominent in speeches of Queen Elizabeth II. We were also interested in how the use of persuasive means differs depending on the similar circumstances of the speech, and how their rhetoric changes during different periods of life. In doing so, we found that the speakers rhethoric do not differ significantly under similar circumstances, but we noticed a trend of more prominet use of logos in the queen's older age and pathos in the king's older age. Due to the rapid changes in current structure of the royal family, the results of our analysis can serve as a starting point for further research of rhetoric in the British royal family. |
