magistrsko delo

Associations of lifestyle indicators with consumption of milk and dairy products |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
The inclusion of milk and dairy products (MDP) in the diet of Slovenians is part of the Slovenian dietary tradition. Dairy products are considered as a source of quality proteins, vitamins and minerals and consequently affect the health of the general population. Quite a few global studies point out that the consumption of MDP is associated with maintaining a suitable body weight, a more favourable body mass index (BMI) and consequently, with maintaining health and a healthy well-being. Therefore, in our master's thesis we analysed the data obtained from the national nutritional survey SI.Menu 2017/18 for the general population. We analysed the links between lifestyle, where we used relevant indicators (BMI, physical activity, eating habits - skipping breakfast) and consumption of selected food products (MDP, food supplements). We found that there are associations between gender, age and the relevant indicators that we considered in relation to the consumption of MDP. Adolescents and adults who have normal BMI values (between 18.5 and 24.9) more often eat MDP. Also, physically active people of all age groups did not avoid MDP. Young people who are more active consume milk more often, while more active older people, more often include fermented milk products in their diet. Adolescents who were physically active, who consumed breakfast and nutritional supplements more often included milk in their diet. Adult men and older women who used dietary supplements chose fermented milk products more often. Based on the results of the master's thesis, we conclude that Slovenians often include MDP in their diet, but at the same time, we do not deviate significantly in comparison with global studies regarding eating habits and lifestyle. |
