Za iskanje so bile uporabljene ključne besede v angleškem in slovenskem jeziku (slov.: stereotip, medicinska sestra, zdravstvena nega; angl.: stereotype, nurse, nursing care). Pri izboru relevantnih virov smo sledili postopku, opisanem v PRISMA diagramu. Rezultati: Analiziranih je bilo 17 člankov. Področje in izvajalci zdravstvene nege so deležni mnogih stereotipov.

Sekundarni naslov: Stereotypes about nurses: literature review
Sekundarni povzetek: Introduction: Stereotypes are defined as imprecise, generalized, unverified and superficial judgements, or more difficult to change, rigid and distorted ideas about an individual, group or community. They encourage the creation of social prejudices, and influence behavior and interpersonal relationships. The nursing staff in Slovenia includes medical technicians with a secondary level of education, nurses with a higher level of education, specialist nurses in various professional fields, nurses with a faculty education, professors of health education, and nurses with an academic postgraduate education. Purpose: The aim of the thesis is to identify the most common stereotypes about nursing care providers and to examine how they face them and how these generalized socially established ideas can affect their work. Methods: A review of domestic and foreign literature were done in the bibliographic databases CINAHL, MEDLINE, and the EBSCOhost database. The criterion for the selected literature was that it was published in the last ten years. Keywords in English and Slovenian were used for the search (Slovenian: stereotip, medicinska sestra, zdravstvena nega; English: stereotype, nurse, nursing care). When selecting relevant sources, we followed the procedure described in the PRISMA diagram. Results: 17 articles were analyzed. The field and nursing practitioners are subject to many stereotypes. For nursing care providers, e.g. it was considered that they were merely following medical instructions, which reduced the importance of their professional knowledge and ability to make independent decisions. Nurses are also said to be less educated than other health workers, and women are said to be particularly suitable for the profession of nurse. Stereotypes can affect work, as they often influence individuals' self-confidence and self-esteem, as well as teamwork and commitment to work. In extreme cases, they can even lead to depression or termination of employment by the employee. Discussion and conclusion: There are many stereotypes in the field of nursing, but they can have severe consequences on an individual or a group, so it is important that the targets of negative stereotypes know how to deal with them well. The abandonment of negative stereotypes is significantly influenced by education and the population's awareness of this field of work.
