In the developed world, a television receiver can be found in every household, but there are different ways to receive the television signal. Although the portion of Slovenia households that receive the signal via the roof or indoor antenna is only about one third, this type of reception is still popular because it is one of the few that is free of charge. To this end I decided to create a controller that allows a single antenna to be pointed in different directions - to a different transmitter. This eliminates a mess of a large number of antennas, which must be connected through the filters and combiners to a television set.
The controller allows the choice of direction, inclination and polarization. The antenna can be directed at three different ways, namely: via computer, via a remote control, and with switches and buttons on the controller itself. The controller can operate in two modes. In the manual mode the antenna's direction or position is determined arbitrary (the ''arbitrariness'' is limited by the end positions). This positions can also be saved. The second method is automatic where one can select any of the three directions of the antenna which were saved in the manual mode. The controller is built using the PIC microcontroller. |
