Sekundarni povzetek: The area of the earliest communication development in Slovenia is a relatively unresearched field from the logopedical/surdopedagogical point of view. We have bounded our research in the diploma work in the frame of the earliest communication development to the first year of age, to neonatal and infant period. This period covers the time before a child begins to use speech. Perhaps this is the reason that some are reducing the importance of this period, in particular its relevance of the role of the logopedist/surdopedagogue. This argumentation leads us through the writing and we are trying to establish it with theoretical and practical work. For the area of logopedics and surdopedagogics the neonatal and infant period is more than just important, because it represents a basis for development of communication ability of a child. The aim of the diploma work is to compare the standpoints on prenatal and early postnatal period, in conjunction with the development of communication abilities among three groups of specialists: a group of logopedists and surdopedagogues, a group of medical specialists (physiotherapists, work therapists, pediatricians and pedopsychiatrists) and a group of specialist from the field of social sciences and humanities (psychologists, social workers, pedagogues, special and rehabilitation pedagogues). In the survey 158 specialists, who are working or are in contact with children took part in: 75 logopedists/surdopedagogues, 45 specialist from the field of social sciences and humanities and 38 medical specialists. For the purpose of research we have used a questionnaire with Likert-type five-step scale of important characteristics. The questionnaire was developed on the basis of theoretical part of the diploma work (Early development of communication) and is an original work of the author. We have found a statistically significant difference in standpoints towards the development of communication abilities between logopedists/surdopedagogues and specialist from the field of social sciences and humanities, while we could not confirm it between logopedists/surdopedagogues and medical specialists. We have also found that the standpoints on early communication development between employees in education and employees in medical services, regardless of the professional profile, are of statistically significant difference. The same applies within the group of logopedists/surdopedagogues. Regarding the working area (employment in medical services/education) the results of the research indicate a strong influence in shaping of the standpoints on the early communication development. We have found a statistically significant difference between logopedists/surdopedagogues and medical specialists in standpoints towards prelingual predictors, while we could not confirm it between logopedists/surdopedagogues and specialists in the field of social sciences and humanities. The results of the comparison of standpoints on activities, abilities, skills and capabilities of a neonatal/infant have shown a statistically significant difference between logopedists/surdopedagogues and specialists in the field of social sciences, while we could not confirm it between logopedists/surdopedagogues and medical specialists.
