Sekundarni povzetek:	The theoretical part of the thesis outlines the impact of the current situation in society on young people’s participation, with emphasis on political participation. The empirical part focuses on the barriers that stand in the young people’s way to become active citizens, on how they are experiencing participation and on the possible solutions that young people see in this respect. I have found in my research that young people are currently experiencing financial, residential and employment challenges as well as difficulties in gaining independence from parents, and with education and studies. Fear and uncertainty are also present when young people are facing those challenges and passivity. Although the respondents do not underestimate the conventional forms of participation, they prefer modern ways of engagement. They see the solutions for current challenges in specific daily activities and at the same time outlining the importance of new and alternative possibilities.

Povzetek (ePrints):	V teoretičnem delu diplomskega dela orišem vpliv trenutnih družbenih razmer na participacijo mladih in opišem različne vrste participacije, s poudarkom na politični participaciji. V empiričnem delu naloge se osredotočim predvsem na težave, s katerimi se srečujejo mladi na poti aktivnega državljanstva, in opišem, kako doživljajo participacijo ter kakšne rešitve vidijo na tem področju. V raziskavi sem ugotovila, da mladi kot aktualno izpostavljajo finančno, bivanjsko in zaposlitveno problematiko, težave na področju osamosvajanja, izobraževanja in študija ter strah in negotovost pred izzivi in hkrati pasivnostjo Sodelujoči v raziskavi ne podcenjujejo konvencionalnih oblik participacije, vendar se raje udejstvujejo na nove načine. Na področju rešitev in idealov si predstavljajo razrešitev aktualnih problemov s konkretnimi vsakodnevnimi aktivnostmi, izpostavljajo pa tudi pomen novih in alternativnih možnosti.
