Z raziskavo smo prišli do zaključka oziroma do sklepa diplomskega dela, v katerem so predstavljene ugotovitve oziroma odgovori na raziskovalna vprašanja.

Sekundarni povzetek: The thoracic surgery is a specific field of surgery, for the injuries and illnesses of thorax, including all the organs in it. Lungs are one of the most vital organs in the human body. A fact that is not too clear to most of the people since they tend to recognize its importance too late, when their lungs are already damaged or taken ill. In the theoretical part of the thesis we present the basic anatomy, physiology and pathology of the lungs and of the pleural cavity. The pleural cavity is described in detail, since it is very important to know it, if we want to successfully handle the thoracic drainage. In the thesis we also describe the medical care of a patient with the thoracic drainage. The duties of medical nurse are described in detail, what do they have to pay a special attention to and what are the special aspects of nursing with a patient with thoracic drainage. Nurses have to constantly take part in trainings and educate themselves in the field of thoracic surgery. Technology is progressing very fast, and with this progression changes in thoracic drainage are coming as well. In the research part of the thesis we present the results of the poll questionnaire. The aim of the research was to recognize how well the patients with thoracic drainage know it, and where in their everyday life they feel to be mostly limited because of the thoracic drainage. The poll questionnaire was carried out in the University Medical Centre Maribor, in the Department of Thoracic Surgery. 30 patients, who were hospitalized at the time, took part in it. The final part of the thesis presents the main findings of this research and the answers that were collected.
