diplomsko delo visokošolskega strokovnega študija Varnost in policijsko delo

Physical violence against female and male nurses in the workplace |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
Physical violence towards female and male nurses in their workplace is a big problem, which is not acknowledged enough among the involved people. In many cases it is simply ignored. The diploma paper shows the most common offenders, the reasons for violence towards female and male nurses and what measurements could be taken to decrease the violence.
The survey showed that female and male nurses feel safe at their workplace. However, many of them already experienced violence in their workplace, which can be physical, sexual, economic or psychological.
Violence of management towards employees is increasing and occupying the second place after violence caused by patients (60%). According to respondents of the survey, management is causing violence in 21% of the cases. It occurs in form of all kinds of blackmailing and unpaid overtime work, employees are afraid to go on sick leave etc.
It is most important to convince female and male nurses to talk about it and to not feel ashamed or disadvantaged. They need to be aware that there are people who can help them and they can trust. It is important to talk as much as possible and to point out the importance of education. Only that way we can slowly decrease violence towards female and male nurses. |
