Povzetek

Zaradi razširjene uporabe interneta in njegovega hitrega razvoja postajajo med mladimi vse bolj priljubljena in obiskana spletna družbena omrežja, med katerimi prevladuje Facebook. Za boljše razumevanje doživljanja mladostnikov in njihovega vedenja v socialnem okolju je pomembno proučiti tudi uporabo spletnega družbenega omrežja Facebook pri mladostnikih v povezavi z njihovo samopodobo. V teoretičnem delu magistrskega dela smo se navezali na razvoj samopodobe v mladostništvu, predstavili spletna družbena omrežja in se osredinili na Facebook, pozneje smo dodatno osvetlili povezanost posameznih mer uporabe Facebooka in samopodobe pri mladostnikih. Namen tega magistrskega dela je: (a) empirično preveriti, kateri so najpogostejši motivi za uporabo Facebooka, (b) raziskati odnos med pogostostjo uporabe Facebooka in zaključnimi ocenami, (c) preveriti, ali med posameznimi merami uporabe Facebooka in tremi dimenzijami samopodobe (splošna, zunanji videz in odnos z vrstniki) obstajajo pomembne povezave, in (d) ugotoviti, v kolikšni meri posamezne mere uporabe Facebooka in motivi za njegovo uporabo napovedujejo tri v raziskavo vključene dimenzije samopodobe pri srednješolcih. Izsledki raziskave na vzorcu slovenskih srednješolcev so pokazali, da je najpogostejši motiv za uporabo Facebooka socialna povezanost in da se dimenzije čustvena navezanost na Facebook, število prijateljev ter število prejetih všečkov na Facebooku pomembno pozitivno povezujejo z vsemi tremi v raziskavo vključenimi dimenzijami samopodobe. Dimenziji pogostost uporabe Facebooka in število prejetih komentarjev na Facebooku se pomembno pozitivno povezujeta le z eno od dimenzij samopodobe, in sicer z odnosom z vrstniki. Nekatere izmed mer uporabe Facebooka so se izkazale tudi kot pomembni napovedniki posameznih dimenzij samopodobe.

Sekundarni povzetek: Due to the increased use of the internet and its fast development, the social media is getting more popular and visited by the youth. For a better understanding of the experience and the behaviour of teens in the social environment, it is important to study their use of the online social media Facebook in correlation to self-concept. In the theoretical part of this thesis we referred to the development of self-concept in adolescence, presented the online social media, where we focused on Facebook and later on enlightened the connection of individual extent of using Facebook and the youth's self-concept. The purpose of the thesis is to empirical check (a) what are the most frequent motives for using Facebook, (b) to research the relations between the frequency of using Facebook and the final grades, (c) to research whether there are important connections between the individual extent of Facebook use and the three dimensions of self-concept (general, physical appearance and the relation to the peers) and (d) to what extend the individual extent of using Facebook and the motives for its use, predict the three dimensions we have included into the research among secondary school students. The results of the research showed that the most frequent motive for using Facebook, on the Slovene sample of secondary school students, is the social connection and that the emotional dimension on Facebook, the number of friends and the number of likes on Facebook are significantly and positively connected to all three in the research included dimensions of self-concept. The dimensions of a frequent Facebook use and the number of comments on Facebook are significantly and positively connected to one dimension of self-concept only, namely to the dimension of the relationship to the peers. Some extents of Facebook use have turned out to be an important preview of individual dimensions of self-concept.
