Abstract

Dobljene podatke smo obdelali s programom SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) in jih predstavili tabelarično.

Secondary title: The influence of consumer society on children's education
Secondary abstract: The thesis entitled "The Consumer Society's Influence on Child Guidance" consists of the theoretical and the empirical part. In the theoretical part we defined the concept of the consumer society, its changes through the years, and the influence it has on the preschool child guidance. We introduced the media and their influence. We, however, concentrated in detail on the influence of advertisements on a child, in what way does he or she perceive them, and how to protect the children from illusions which are portrayed in them. We have touched upon the values, particularly material; we then presented the concept of money, its importance, and its usefulness. We also discussed why it is significant that a child is included in the family's money management. We specified the significance of pocket money and what is the appropriate age for a child to start receiving it. The theoretical part also offers guidelines for parents on how to influence their preschool children to become objective and critical consumers in modern society. The empirical part concentrates on which factors influence the wishes preschool children have regarding purchase most, on whether the parents are phasing the children in the process of shopping, on whether the preschoolers are already receiving their pocket money, and on whether the parents allow their children to manage their own money. 40 parents of preschool children between the ages of 1-6 participated in the survey. The data gained was processed by the SPSS program (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences); they are presented tabularly. The results have shown that it is the peers and the television advertisements which influence the child's wishes to shop, that some preschoolers already participate when shopping, and that most of these children do not receive pocket money.
