Abstract

Secondary title: Profit testing in the development of endowment life insurance
Secondary abstract: The master thesis presents different types of life insurances in which the height of premiums is determined with the help of life tables. It is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part presents basic notions of probability and statistics as well as a theoretical background from the point of view of an actuary in which fundamental notions related to random events and mortality are described. It describes not only the beginning of the development of life tables and their basic functions but also Slovene and English life tables which are based on clients' relations to smoking and have therefore been specifically formed for smokers and non-smokers. It also presents a general life insurance model which is the basis for various other life insurance options where the profit function and the discount function properly change. Beside net and gross premiums it also describes mathematical reserves. The practical part of master thesis is focused on the presentation of an endowment life insurance model for a period of 20 years in which newly formed life tables for Slovenia based on English ones are used. The calculation of death probability depends on death probability of smokers and non-smokers, calculated separately for women and men. It is followed by a description of a profit test and presumptions on which that test is based. Strategic management of an insurance company is determined on the basis of various scenarios.
