Abstract

Glavni problem predstavlja združljivost obstoja zla z obstojem Boga. Zagovorniki teizma pravijo, da je obstoj Boga neodvisen od obstoja zla, medtem ko so nasprotniki, ateisti, prepričani, da eksistenca zla izpodbija obstoj Boga oziroma vsaj eno od njegovih lastnosti - vsemogočnost, vsevednost in moralno popolnost. Proučevali smo logični in evidenčni problem zla in skušali pokazati pomanjkljivosti in prednosti vsakega pristopa.

Secondary title: The problem of evil
Secondary abstract: In this thesis, we discussed a field which has a very rich history of arguments - problem of evil. The main problem presents compatibility between the existence of evil and the existence of God. Supporters of theism say that the existence of God is independent of the existence of evil, while opponents, atheists, are convinced that the existence of evil rebuts the existence of God or at least one of his attributes - omnipotence, omniscience, and moral perfection. We studied the logical and evidential problem of evil and tried to show disadvantages and advantages of each approach. The most famous defender of the logical problem of evil is John Leslie Mackie, who points out the incompatibility of God's attributes (omnipotence, omniscience, and moral perfection) with the existence of evil. The strongest argument against the logical problem from evil is introduced by Alvin Platinga with free will defense, where a human being has a possibility of making a free decision between good or evil deed. William L. Rowe developed the evidential problem of evil, where existence of evil reduces the power of God or even his existence. We also discussed theodicies which are considered to be one of the oldest attempts to justify God's permission of evil. By examining different approaches of leading authors, we tried to show and prove that the existence of God is independent of the existence of evil or that the existence of evil does not reduce the power of God.
