Abstract

Staranju so podvržene vse žive in nežive stvari.

Secondary title: Attitudes towards aging and older people
Secondary abstract: All living and non-living things are subject to aging. Due to the scientific and medical progress, the life expectancy increased and the population began to age, which transformed the needs of the population. The purpose of the thesis was to research students’ attitudes towards the process of aging and the elderly. The research was based on the quantitative research methodology. The instrument of research was the questionnaire, consisting of 23 questions and integrating a Kogan questionnaire for evaluating the attitude towards the elderly. The study focused on the last year students of one of the Secondary Schools of Nursing in Slovenia. According to the findings, men have a better attitude towards elderly, as they reached an average of 72 points, comparing to women, who reached only 65 points. A good half of students (53%) is interested in pursuing a career in the field of nursing care. In accessing the attitude towards the elderly, students achieved on average 69 out of 108 points. Since the estimates tend to be high, this reveals an overall positive attitude towards the elderly. In accordance with the literature review and also the research that was conducted among last year of the Secondary School of Nursing in Slovenia, we can conclude that the young people at the participating secondary school have a positive attitude towards the process of aging and the elderly.
