Abstract

Magistrsko delo obravnava uporabo informacijskega modeliranja gradenj (angl. Building Information Modeling, kratica BIM) v infrastrukturnih projektih.

Secondary title: Use of BIM for road infrastructure design
Secondary abstract: This thesis addresses the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in infrastructure projects. This thesis draws from the project Second Tube of Karavanke tunnel, in which BIM had been implemented. We created models of roads, which will be used for transportation of waste material to landfills. The thesis begins with presenting the basics about BIM, including properties of 3D, 4D, 5D and 6D models, evaluation of BIM, Level of Development, implementation of BIM in industry and exchange of information amongst various BIM software products. The thesis focuses on BIM and its use in infrastructure in greater detail, by demonstrating advantages and disadvantages, BIM software products and exchange of information amongst them. Characteristics of an existing Karavanke tunnel, with an already built infrastructure, are shown next. By using AutoCAD Civil 3D, we created models for some roads, along with communal infrastructure, which had been implemented in the aforementioned project. Further details are given in regard to how the corridors, which represent 3D model of road, were created. The model of bridge was also created, with parts of it being made using the Revit software. We also presented the computation process of materials and how the model was exported to .ifc format. All models were then combined together in Navisworks. By using the centerline alignments of AutoCAD Civil 3D, the visualization of these roads was also created using Infraworks software. The thesis also demonstrates how the BIM model for second tube of Karavanke tunnel was created. The incorporation of discipline models into one model, along with the collaboration of participants in the aforementioned project, is presented in the final part as well.
