Abstract

Kljub izjemnim napredkom računalniške grafične strojne opreme, stremenje po realističnem upodabljanju v realnem času še vedno obstaja. V diplomski nalogi so preučeni nivoji podrobnosti (angl. level of detail) geometrijskih modelov. V prvem delu so opisani temeljni pojmi, zgodovina, štirje okvirji za upravljanje nivojev podrobnosti ter štiri avtomatizirane metode poenostavljanja geometrijskih modelov. V drugem delu so predstavljeni vtičnik, orodje in objekt LOD, ki jih v okviru nivojev podrobnosti ponuja program Cinema 4D. Tako orodje kot objekt LOD sta testirana na lastnih primerih. Vtičnik in orodji starejših in novejših različic programa so med seboj primerjani.

Secondary abstract: Despite tremendous strides in computer graphics hardware, the pursuit of realistic rendering in real-time continues to haunt us. In the diploma levels of detail of geometric models are examined. In the first part the basic concepts, history, four frames for managing levels of detail, and four automated methods for simplifying geometric models are described. In the second part, the plug-in, the tool and the LOD object of the Cinema 4D program are presented. The tool and the LOD object are tested on our own examples. The plug-in and tools of older and newer versions of the program are compared to each other.
