Abstract

V ta namen smo izvedli intervjuje s priseljenci iz Albanije, osnovno- in srednješolci slovenske narodnosti in strokovnimi delavci v vzgojno-izobraževalnih ustanovah.

Secondary title: Social inclusion of children from albanian immigrants into educational institutions
Secondary abstract: At the period of time of increasing migration of members of different nationalities to Slovenia, the legislation of educational institutions is gradually changing. Directives for the inclusion of immigrant children define measures in the field of integration of immigrants at the level of the entire education system and cover the inclusion of children, pupils and immigrant students in Slovenia. Significant changes are also reflected in the increasing implementation of intercultural education in school systems, which enable easier inclusion of immigrants and at the same time tackling stereotypes, prejudices, and intergroup behaviour. In my master's thesis, I would like to present the state of social inclusion in educational institutions in Slovenska Bistrica. For this purpose, I conducted interviews with immigrants from Albania, primary and secondary school students of Slovene nationality, and professional workers in educational institutions. I have learned that immigrants from Albania feel accepted and spend their free time with coevals of Slovene nationality. Differences in social inclusion are noticeable between those who have lived in Slovenia for many years and those who have arrived recently. Based on interviews with professional workers, I estimate that they make every effort to create an inclusive environment, where immigrant children from Albania would be accepted in kindergarten and school environment. They help children with learning content and try to collaborate with their parents in order to better ensure the optimal development of children. All my interlocutors are of opinion that the knowledge of the Slovene language is a key factor which wields significant influence over the inclusion in peer relationships, classroom space and the local environment. Based on my research in the master's thesis, I propose possible measures for effective inclusion of immigrant children into kindergartens and schools.
