Abstract

Diplomsko delo z naslovom Odzivi staršev na otroška vprašanja s področja tabu tem, je sestavljeno iz teoretičnega in empiričnega dela. V teoretičnem delu smo se seznanili z odnosom do tabujev nekoč in danes, ki vplivajo na to, kako se v določenih okoliščinah ob srečanju z otroškimi vprašanji odzovemo. Pri tem smo poudarili predvsem besedne in nebesedne odzive ter se seznanili z nekaterimi obrambnimi mehanizmi, ki se lahko pojavijo. Opredelili smo nekatere značilnosti pogovora med starši in otroki, poudarili pomembnost aktivnega poslušanja in razumevanja otroških vprašanj. Nazadnje smo podali še nekaj smernic za odgovarjanje na težavna otroška vprašanja. V empiričnem delu smo raziskali odzive staršev na otroška vprašanja s področja tabu tem. Vprašalnike smo razdelili staršem otrok, starih od 4 do 6 let, ki obiskujejo vrtce v Mariboru. Zanimalo nas je kolikšna je odzivnost staršev na težavna otroška vprašanja, kdaj se staršem zdi pravi čas za odgovor na otroška vprašanja s področja tabu tem, ali se jim zdi pomembno pogovarjati o teh temah že v predšolskem obdobju in o katerih, ali se sami čutijo pripravljeni za pogovor o tabu temah, kako bi se počutili ob zastavljenih vprašanjih določenih tabu tem s strani otrok in kako bi ob morebitnem težavnem vprašanju sami odreagirali.

Secondary title: Parents' responses to children's questions about taboo topics
Secondary abstract: The thesis titled The Parents' Response to Children's Questions about Taboo Topics consists of a theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part deals with the attitude towards past and present taboos that is strongly connected to our responses to children's questions in different situations. We have focused above all on the verbal and non-verbal responses and introduced some defence mechanisms that may arise. We have defined some characteristics of parent-child communication, highlighted the importance of active listening and understanding the children's questions. In the end, we offered some guidelines for handling children's difficult questions. In the empirical part, we have explored the parents' responses to children's questions about taboo topics. We have distributed a questionnaire to parents of four to six years old children that attend kindergartens in Maribor. We were interested in the responsiveness of the parents to difficult children's questions and questions like when do the parents think is the right time to give answers to children in connection to taboo topics, do they think it is important to discuss such topics in the pre-school period and what topics are suitable for discussion. Moreover, we wanted to find out if the parents feel prepared for discussing the taboo topics, and explore their feelings and reactions when asked some taboo topics questions.
