Abstract

Stres sproži vrsto fizičnih in duševnih simptomov. Fizični stres slabi imunski sistem, povečuje občutljivost za različne bolezni, povzroča bolečine ter zmanjšuje fizično vzdržljivost. Dolgotrajen stres pa lahko poveča tveganje za kronično utrujenost, ki ga imenujemo tudi sindrom izgorelosti. Stres izčrpa tudi duševno stanje, katere najpogostejši simptomi vključujejo razdražljivost, nihanje razpoloženja in izčrpanost, ki lahko preide v depresije, tesnobo in nižjo kakovost življenja. Prav tako pa stres vpliva tudi na delovno uspešnost. Poleg osnovnega teoretičnega dela o stresu in izgorelosti smo se osredotočili tudi na proučevanje nastalih simptomov stresa in izgorelosti na delovnem mestu ter kako nastale simptome zmanjšati. Dobri delovni pogoji vodijo k večji učinkovitosti in tudi k večjemu zadovoljstvu zaposlenih, v našem primeru visokošolskih učiteljev. V raziskovalnem delu smo uporabili anketni vprašalnih ter ga razposlali na različne univerze in fakultete po Sloveniji. Želeli smo ugotoviti v kolikšni meri so visokošolski učitelji podvrženi stresu in ali so že kdaj bili izgoreli. Kateri simptomi stresa se pri visokošolskih učiteljih najpogosteje pojavljajo ter katere tehnike sproščanja najpogosteje uporabljajo. Na podlagi zbranih podatkov smo v zaključnem delu podali naše ugotovitve. Ugotovili smo, da visokošolski učitelji niso podvrženi stresu, vendar pa je kar nekaj naših anketirancev že doživelo stopnjo izgorelost. Zato lahko predvidevamo, da tisti, ki so že bili izgoreli pravočasno prepoznajo simptome stresa in jih tako pravočasno ublažijo. Najpogostejši način sproščanja med našimi anketiranci je druženje s prijatelji in družino. Ugotovili pa smo tudi, da stopnja stresa ne vpliva na spol posameznika ter da prav tako ni odvisna od vrste zaposlitve.

Secondary title: Stress and burnout among higher lecturers
Secondary abstract: Stress triggers many physical and mental symptoms. Physical stress and a bad immune system increase sensitivity for many diseases, cause pain and decrease physical endurance. Long term stress can increase the risk for chronic fatigue, which we also call the burnout syndrome. Stress drains mental state, of which the most common symptoms include irritability, mood swings and exhaustion, that can lead to depression, anxiety and lower quality of living. Stress also has an influence on work performance. Besides the basic theoretical part about stress and burnout we also focused on studying about the created symptoms of stress and burnout in the work place and how to decrease those symptoms. Good work conditions lead to a higher efficiency and higher satisfaction of the employees, in our case, college teachers. In the research part we used a survey questionnaire, which we sent out to various colleges and universities in Slovenia. We wanted to find out to what extent are university teachers a subject to stress and if they have ever experienced a burnout. Which symptoms of stress are most common and which techniques of stress release do they use most often. Based on the collected information we gave our conclusion in the final part. We found out that college teachers aren't subjected to stress, but there were some respondents who did experience a level of burnout. We assume, that those who did experience burnout recognised the symptoms in a timely manner. The most common way of stress release amongst our respondents was socializing with friends and family. We also found out that the rate of stress doesn't depend on the gender of the individual and their type of employment.
