Secondary title: Influence of Preanalytical Variables on the Quality of Laboratory Test Results
Secondary abstract: The process leading to clinical laboratory result involves an examination and assessment process that is composed of the preanalytical, analytical and postanalytical phases. Preanalytical phase is an important component of laboratory medicine and of quality of total laboratory work. The preanalytical phase consists of the preparation of patients, technical aspects of specimen collection, sample transport, storage of sample, specimen preparation prior to analysis and several biological variables and interference factors which influence test results. Laboratory scientists, doctors, nurses and everyone involved in the chain of events in the preanalytical phase, have become increasingly aware of the important influence of preanalytical variables on the test results of patients.
