Abstract
Podatke smo v okviru projekta Trendi telesnega, gibalnega in osebnostnega razvoja OŠ mladine - socialni status in življenjski slog sta pomembna dejavnika otrokovega razvoja zbirali s pomočjo dveh anketnih vprašalnikov.

The purpose of this research was to examine the relation between athletic activity and academic achievement among male and female students. The research was based on nonprobability sampling of 348 students aged 9 to 11 years and took place in primary schools of the North East Slovenia. Data were collected under the project Trendi telesnega, gibalnega in osebnostnega razvoja OŠ mladine - socialni status in življenjski slog sta pomembna dejavnika otrokovega razvoj, with the help of two questionnaires. The first one was intended for teachers that had graded the students at Math and Slovene. The second one gave us the information about the students' athletic activity. The collected data were processed with the help of statistical software SPSS Statistic 21.00 for Windows. For examining differences between athletic activities among students with higher and students with lower academic achievement, we used one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Statistically significant differences were examined based on the level of risk (p▫$\le$▫0,05). With the help of Post-Hoc test (Scheffe) we thoroughly defined differences in time academically successful students intend for sports activities. The results show that there are statistically significant differences in time that academically very successful, successful and less successful male students at Slovene intend for organized sports activities in a club. Secondly, statistically significant differences was shown in time that academically very successful, successful and less successful male students at Math intend for organized sports activities in a club, for interest sports activities and for daily sports activities. Thirdly, statistically significant difference was shown in time that academically very successful female students at Slovene intend for organized sports activities in a club. Moreover, statistically significant difference was also shown in time that academically successful, successful and less successful female students at Math intend for organized sports activities in a club. Although in most cases we did not discover statistically significant connection between athletic activity and academical achievement at math and Slovene, the findings show that grade at math and grade at Slovene are closely connected with organized sports activities in a club, both in male and female students. |
