Abstract

Secondary title: Stitched drawing - 5 homes
Secondary abstract: The main theme of this master's thesis is a stitched drawing, which combines three different expressive means - sewing, line and space. These concepts are the basis for the practical part, and they also represent the starting points for the theoretical part, which is divided into three chapters. In order to get a better understanding, the concept of stitched drawing is presented and roughly analysed in the beginning part. This is followed by the first chapter, in which the meaning, function, as well as the artistic and historical development of sewing, which we consider as a type of artistic expression, are presented. The second chapter addresses the line, which appears in various forms as a basic artistic element of artworks. The chapter about space and the distortion of space concludes the theoretical part. With this distortion, the artist reveals his own perception of reality, and at the same time enables the spectator access to his intimate artistic space. The theoretical part of the thesis is therefore based on analysis, synthesis, comparison, evaluation and the interpretation of different texts, theories as well as artistic and historical reviews. With its title, the master's thesis presents the content of the practical part, which is described in detail, explained and backed up by photographs in a special chapter. It is a completely personal confessional artwork, which is based on the division of home into five different locations. The practical part of the master's thesis is a product of a detailed artistic analysis of a particular house, consisting of a collection of sketch drawings and five large stitched drawings on a non-primed non-tensioned canvas. All this represents a symbolic restitution of a broken home into one whole.
