Abstract

Secondary title: Effects of a Six-week exercise programme on people with low back pain
Secondary abstract: In our research, we studied the effects of a 6-week exercise programme on some physical abilities (flexibility, muscle strength) and the level of pain in people with low back pain. Thirteen participants took part in our research, with the average age of 43±13.54, and every of them has some kind of low back problems. Before and after the exercise programme, we took some tests of participants' level of physical ability and measured the level of pain in the low back area. With the help of a questionnaire, we also summarized their lifestyle habits. We observed if there was a difference between the experimental and the control group after exercise intervention. We investigated if the exercise programme has had an influence on various results or if they were just coincidental. We found out that regular exercise has positive effects on flexibility and strength development in frontal and sagittal plane. Improvement in erectors and flexors of trunk and hip as well as sagittal flexors of trunk were also discovered. The level of pain after the exercise programme was significantly lower as well. With the help of a questionnaire, we discovered that the majority of participants sits for 5 or more hours per day and are not active enough. With our research, we found out some positive effects of regular exercise by lowering the level of pain and improving the flexibility and strength in the low back area. For this reason, we recommend that all individuals include exercise in their everyday lives.
