Abstract

Diplomsko delo se ukvarja s primerjavo tem med Čapkovo novelo Hordubal in drugo, tretjo in četrto novelo Tavčarjevega cikla V Zali. Gre za primerjavo treh tem - revščine, odnosa okolice ter ljubezni, ki je hkrati tudi osrednja in največja tema primerjave, saj usodno in pogubno vpliva na usode junakov in hkrati tudi povzroči njihov propad. Eden izmed glavnih sprožilnih dejavnikov za propad ljubezenskih razmerij je odhod junakov v Ameriko, njihova vrnitev pa povzroči tragični razplet, ki se pri Čapku konča s smrtjo, pri Tavčarju pa z zaporom, izgubo imetja, beračenjem oz. pijančevanjem.

Secondary abstract: This diploma thesis is discussing the comparison of themes between Čapek's novell Hordubal and Tavčar's second, third and fourth novella from the cyclus V Zali. Comparison focuses on three themes - poverty, attitude of the surrounding people and love, which is also the main and the most crucial part of this comparison, because it majorly and deadly influences on characters' destinies that lead into demise. One of the most important triggers that destroy relationship is characters' departure to America and their return, which leads to disasters that at Čapek's end with death and at Tavčar's with imprisonment, poverty, begging, and alcoholism.
