Abstract

Secondary abstract: In this diploma paper I have presented the use of biblical animal idioms from three points of view: how parts of texts in the Bible, which were the basis for the actual idioms, were translated in different translations of the Bible and which were closest to today's idioms according to the structure; in what form and meaning were these phrases established and standardized in dictionaries (Slovene-German dictionary by Pleteršnik, Dictionary of Slovene Literary Language and Dictionary of Slovene Idioms); and what their latest use is in journalistic texts from newspaper publications, magazines and internet resources collected in corpus Gigafida.
