magistrsko delo

Abstract

V drugi fazi raziskovanja smo uporabili metodo intervjuja, s katero smo želeli preveriti veljavnost z anketnim vprašalnikom pridobljenih podatkov in pridobiti poglobljen vpogled v vrstniško mediacijo v slovenskem prostoru. Izvedli smo pol strukturiran intervju z enim izmed slovenskih mediatorjev, z Janijem Prgićem.

Secondary title: Peer mediation in Slovenian secondary schools
Secondary abstract: This master's thesis focuses on the topic of peer mediation as one of the alternative ways of resolving conflicts that have arisen. The main purpose of our empirical research was to highlight the area of Slovenian secondary school programs in terms of discipline and conflicts and to determine how many secondary schools use the concept of peer mediation in conflict resolution. We were interested in the differences regarding the region and the educational program conducted by each secondary school. In the first phase of the survey, we obtained data using a questionnaire. The research is based on a random sample of school counselors from all secondary schools who were active in Slovenia in the school year 2016/2017. A total of 71 school counselors responded to the questionnaire. In the second phase of the survey we used the method of interview with which we wanted to check the validity of data obtained with the questionnaire and to obtain a deeper insight into peer mediation in the Slovenian territory. We conducted a semi-structured interview with one of the Slovenian mediators, Jan Prgić. The results of the survey questionnaire showed that all school counselors evaluate interpersonal relationships between students at their school as positive and very positive. A large percentage of secondary schools actively involves students in the conflict management and disciplinary issues, however, the concept of peer mediation, as one of the alternative methods of conflict resolution, is nevertheless poorly established in Slovenian secondary schools, with no significant differences in terms of the region or type of educational program. Many authors mention the advantages of peer mediation in their works, as it is also reported by respondents from secondary schools where peer mediation is already practiced. Other respondents indicate the need to introduce certain conditions to introduce this concept in their schools. Answers collected through interviews confirmed our assumption that peer mediation and mediation in general, is a method that equips individuals with knowledge and skills that are indispensable and desirable for life and work in society.
