Abstract

V raziskavo so bili vključeni otroci petih in otroci osmih razredov osnove šole Ledina v Ljubljani ter Waldorfske osnovne šole v Ljubljani.

Secondary title: COMPARISON OF THE MOTIVATION OF CHILDREN IN FIFTH AND EIGHTH GRADE IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION BETWEEN THE PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL AND WALDORF PRIMARY SCHOOL
Secondary abstract: The purpose of the master's thesis is to compare the motivation of children in fifth and eighth grade in physical education between the public primary school and Waldorf primary school. We want to learn if there are differences in the motivation of children in fifth and eighth grade and whether there are differences in the motivation of children who attend a public primary school or Waldorf primary school. We are aware that the teacher has a very important role in teaching. That is why we want to determine if the teacher's approach helps to motivate children. The study includes children in fifth and eighth grade from the public primary school Ledina in Ljubljana and Waldorf primary school in Ljubljana. Each grade was observed for 14 hours at the time of physical education. During the observation, we assessed children's motivation by the twelve-level scale. Each hour we numbered repetitive behaviours, which we recorded in the previously mentioned scale. We observed the teacher's work, and we recorded their repetitive actions. We examined and recorded the subjects that were performed at the hour and analysed the results of observation. We set up three hypotheses to compare the motivation of children between the public primary school and Waldorf primary school. Using the results of the research, we found that there are differences in the motivation of children in fifth and eighth grade. Children in eight grade are more motivated. We established that there are differences in the motivation of children at the public primary school and waldorf primary school. Children of waldorf school are more motivated than children in public school. By monitoring the teacher and their work, we noticed that the teacher plays a very important role in teaching. We confirmed that the teacher's approach notably contributes to the motivation of children in the classroom.
