Abstract

Secondary title: Informational Technology and Turnitin on the University of Ljubljana
Secondary abstract: We can nowadays record an ever increasing growth in the breaching of technological novelties into our everyday lives and subsequently in the field of education and vice versa. One such instance of technology is Turnitin, a similarity checking software program, which is among others also in use on the University in Ljubljana. This master thesis takes us through different views on the subject and tries to uncover under which ideological thought Turnitin entered into the University of Ljubljana and in what sort of relationship the service provider and the university are, and how the presence of the program is perceived amongst the students of the University of Ljubljana aswell as among students of other countries. The thesis also touches a broader subject in the sense of international regulations and directives, as it tries to sum up why we are experiencing an increasing appearance of tendencies towards substitution of the work being done by higher education teacher with various software programs and similar technologies.
