Abstract

Zaradi spremenjenih demografskih gibanj se v sodobni družbi spreminja odnos do starosti in starostnikov. Namen zaključnega dela je predstaviti odnos družbe do staranja, predvsem z vidika starizma in stereotipov ter raziskati, kakšen odnos ima naključno izbrana populacija do starosti in starostnikov. Raziskovalne metode: V teoretičnem delu je bila uporabljena opisna metoda dela, v raziskovalnem delu pa kvantitativna metodologija raziskovanja. Za ugotavljanje odnosa do starosti in starostnikov je bil uporabljen strukturiran vprašalnik. Raziskavo smo izvedli med naključno izbrano populacijo v Šentjurju pri Celju. Rezultati: Ugotovljeno je bilo, da je odnos splošne populacije do starosti in starostnikov pozitiven, saj je povprečna vrednost znašala 124,6 od možnih 204 točk. Ugotovili pa smo tudi, da so najnižje število točk dosegli v starosti skupini 25 – 35 let, v kateri so ženske dosegle povprečno 115,4 točke in moški 111,6 točke. Da imajo s starejšimi dober odnos, se je strinjalo 60 % anketiranih, 58 % pa pozna primere negativnega odnosa do starejših. Diskusija in zaključek: Pomembno delo v prihodnje bi se moralo osredotočiti na osveščanje mladih, da bi razvili bolj pozitiven odnos do starosti in starostnikov. Spremeniti pa bi se moral tudi družben odnos do prikazovanja in obravnavanja starosti in starostnikov.

Secondary title: Attitudes of a randomly selected human population towards old age
Secondary abstract: Due to changed demographic movements the attitude towards old age and elderly is changing. The purpose of the thesis is to present the attitude of society towards ageing, especially from the point of view of ageism and old age stereotypes and to research what attitude has the random selected population towards old age and elderly. Research Methods: In the theoretical part has been used the descriptive method of work, in the research part quantitative research methodology. For identification of attitude towards old age and elderly a questionnaire was used. The research was carried out amongst random selected population in Šentjur pri Celju. Results: It has been found that the attitude of general population towards old age and elderly is positive, since the average value amounted to 124,6 out of possible 204 points. We also found that the lowest average value is amongst the age group of 25 – 35 years, in which the average value for women amounted to 115,4 points and for men 111,6 points. 60 % of the general population has a good relationship with elderly and 58 % knows a case of a negative relationship toward elderly. Discussion and Conclusion: In the future important work should be focused on awareness of the young so that they could develop a more positive attitude towards old age and elderly. Also there should be a changed social attitude how old age and elderly are represented and treated.
