diplomsko delo
Abstract

Crisis communication at umc ljubljana |

Entrepreneurship is a big hit these days especially for young people. Economic growth is high and entrepreneurs' expectations are as well. Against this background we have many large and small businesses already in existence so there is more competition in every craft every day. Business growth is very conscious in today's world as well as in large companies where many times they fall into a certain cycle. Therefore, many times corporate executives pay little attention to what is going on in the company and ignore the symptoms of crises respectively pre-existing business crises that can lead to red numbers or even bankruptcy. Therefore, it is very important to know crisis communication throughout the company and to make all the participants of the company aware of their contingency plan. Crisis communication can limit a great deal of damage or even prevent crises from actually occurring because they see it in a timely manner. And our opinion is that knowledge of crisis communication in a company is extremely important for the existence and successful functioning of the company in crisis or at the very top of the company, as well as it has a lot of merit to keep the company on the market as if it is successful. In the private sector they are certainly more exposed to crises because there is more competition and less insurance than in the public sector but there are bankruptcies or crises that are much more high profile than any other. That is why we turned to the Human Resources department of the University Clinical Centre Ljubljana (hereinafter UCCL) which is one of the most attacked or exposed organizations in the Republic of Slovenia.
The purpose of the diploma thesis is to compare and determine the use of crisis communication in times of crisis and to identify the actual factors that drive the crisis in the organization and the causes of the crisis. We also explored how we can prevent and respond to a particular crisis when it comes to the organization and functioning of the organization.
The basic goal is to present how the UCCL prepares for a crisis in a given situation, gathers information, determines a team. Given that UCCL is one of the most exposed organizations to the natural disasters that “bring” patients to the infirmary we have touched on their knowledge of FEMA organisation and their plan in the event of natural crises.
The research focused on their communication in times of crisis and what kind of crisis plan they had. We found out if the company was aware of the crisis in time or too late and whether the reaction of employees and management was decisive for solving the crisis. We have found that UCCL is aware of crises as well as well-prepared for crisis with crisis plans for each specific department. As well as in very good relations with the media and the general public. |
