Abstract

Osrednji del naloge predstavlja analiza treh različnih pravljic, ki sta jih brata Grimm objavila v svoji zbirki Otroške in hišne pravljice.

Secondary title: Role of female characters in selected fairy tales by brothers Grimm - encouraging or breaking stereotypes
Secondary abstract: This paper is dedicated to discussion on the role of women's characters in some fairy tales by the brothers Grimm. First, we present the fairy tale structure that is supported by the presentation of different theories. Then we learn what is the function of different characters in classic fairy tales with emphasis on the role of women's characters. Because we want to disprove stereotypes about women's characters in fairy tales, we present some of these stereotypes in a special chapter. For better understanding why women are presented in a certain way in fairy tales special chapter defines women's role in the West. Next part of the paper presents brothers Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm and some of previous researches about their work. Main part of this paper presents the analysis of three different fairy tales that brothers Grimm published in Children's and Household Tales. We chose fairy tales Hansel and Gretel, All Kinds of Fur and The Clever Farmer's Daughter. For each we presented the plot and checked if its characteristics correspond to those of the classic fairy tale. Then we studied the role of individual good and bad women's characters. For this we leaned on preliminary presented stereotypes. At the end we presented our findings in a special chapter.
