Abstract

Izdelali smo štiri plošče z različno vsebnostjo termično modificiranega lesa 0, 30, 60 in 100 (%).

Secondary title: Properties of particleboards from thermally modified wood
Secondary abstract: Thermally modified wood is more dimensionally-lasting; that is why its mechanical properties are worse. Because of its reduced sorption characteristics the thermally modified timber is more suitable because of its better dimensional stability when used as a raw material for the production of particles and particleboards. We produced 4 plates with different proportions of thermally modified wood 0, 30, 60, 100 (%). We determined the strength surface perpendicular to the board, internal bonding (IB), bending strength, modulus of rapture, thickness swelling (TS), density and moisture content (MC). The average density among the plates does not differ much. TS and MC were the lowest in the particle board with 100 % of thermally modified wood particles. Properties such as bending strength, IB and the strenght of surface perpendicular to the board were the highest in the panel without particles of thermally modified wood (0%), which was expected; the thermally modified wood being mechanically weakened. Unexpectedly, the modulus of elasticity was the largest in the particle board with 100 % of thermally modified wood particles.
