Abstract

Pred začetkom raziskave so učenci izpolnili anketni vprašalnik o njihovih predstavah in občutkih o drugačnosti.

Secondary abstract: This master's thesis is connected to learning about literature education. The theoretical part focuses on reading, youth literature, prejudice and empathy as well as modern literature-teaching methods. The empirical part mainly presents the conducted action research, the aim of which is to determine how reading a youth novel, titled Čudo, affects prejudice against otherness, the concept of being different, and how it is accepted. Moreover, the research tries to find out how pupils understand otherness and whether they can identify themselves with a literary character that is different from them. Quantitative and qualitative methods are used. Prior to the research, pupils filled out a survey on their idea and feelings about otherness. After the end of the research, they filled out another survey, related to the main literary character, who is different. Individual action steps encompass reading events, particularly reading passages from the novel, following phases of school interpretation of literary texts. The sample is ad hoc and it is comprised of ten pupils from the fifth grade.
