Abstract

Secondary title: Induction of new employees in the Ljubljana Municipality
Secondary abstract: The work of employees in the Ljubljana Muncipality largely depends on the use of certain computer programs, i.e., Lotus Notes, Kadris, Mferac, Citizens' Intiatives etc. Program trainings take place only once or twice per year, leaving new employees to the goodwill and help of their co-workers. Employees have to face the problem of periodic program updates as well. Therefore, a decision has been made to prepare a digital manual which would enable new employees to master these computer programs and become involved in the work process as soon as possible. The manual would be updated automatically according to all changes. In addition, an anonymous online survey was planned and conducted, aiming to determine the level of experience of employees during the induction period and gathering general information about the City of Ljubljana employee structure. It has been established that the employees of the City of Ljubljana have an above-average education, that the average age of employees corresponds to the age of the active population in Slovenia, and that the ratio between employees is 3:1 in favor of women. The survey has also shown that 35% of new employees had no help during induction into their job and that for 34% of employees this was their first employment. The manual will be forwarded to the HR department for distribution to employees and for common use. Based on this research, proposals regarding the introduction of the onboarding process for new employees will be given to the HR department with the aim of replacing the current method of induction.
