Abstract

V diplomskem delu so najprej predstavljene teoretične osnove in pravila varjenja aluminija in aluminijevih zlitin.

Secondary title: Cylinder head repair with TIG welding
Secondary abstract: The final thesis describes the basic rules and theory on welding aluminium and aluminium alloys. TIG welding and weld analysis procedures are described next. When welding aluminium and aluminium alloys, we often encounter different issues, which results in low quality of welds. We presumed that by following a particular set of theoretical rules, we can improve the weld quality with a minimal amount of welding defects. This was proven to be true on a case of cylinder head from an automobile engine. We properly prepared a welding piece and chose the correct welding equipment and parameters based on the welding material and theoretical recommendations. We proved that by following a particular set of rules, a high quality weld can achieved, without any weld cracks. However, the repaired piece had minimal but acceptable quantity of porosity. The quality of welds was proven by visual inspection and dye penetration tests. After the welding, the cylinder head was machined and mounted back into the engine block. The quality of repair work was confirmed the quality by successful running the engine.
