diplomsko delo visokošolskega študijskega programa Varnost in policijsko delo
Abstract
Odvisniki so najpogosteje nevrotični ljudje z različnimi duševnimi in osebnostnimi motnjami.

Effects of Personality on Drug addiction and Deviant Behaviour |
Secondary abstract: |
The diploma thesis was made as an empiric study of the literature significant to this field, as an effort to present and show the important role of personality in the origin of the substance addiction and criminology, which often intertwine, to the general public.
In order to reach the assigned dissertation goals, we descended into the research of foreign and domestic literature in the field of drugs, personality and crime. We mainly focused on drug types, addiction, and personality, which was divided into personality traits, personality disorders and trait dimensions. Finally, the clinical picture of addicts and its reflection in crime was briefly described and presented through psychometric studies.
In the diploma work, several hypotheses and research questions were answered based on evidence, among other things, it was found that certain personality traits can cause a tendency towards drug abuse and addiction. In predicting possible drug addiction, the literature shows the importance of considering all the factors that could influence the development of addiction, and not just psychological ones.
Studies show that the drug addicts are most often neurotic people with various mental and personality disorders. Both may occur before and after the onset of addiction. Drugs, however, may significantly contribute to the development of these disorders, especially when it comes to the younger people whose personalities are still evolving.
Crime perpetrated by drug addicts is most often committed to obtain financial means for purchasing drugs due to the occurrence of withdrawal symptoms or to simply prevent them. However, criminal offences also occur due to the pharmacological effect of the drugs on the central nervous system. |
