Abstract

Secondary title: Awareness of students about breast self-exemination
Secondary abstract: Breast self-examination is an activity that female high school students, should perform regularly from an early age, as they can quickly identify any changes that may lead to the disease. It is of great importance that suitable knowledge, information and skills are acquired as well as awareness about self-examination. The research was based on quantitative methodology. We gathered data with the help of online inquiry. 75 randomly chosen high school students were included into the research from various high schools across Slovenia. We used methods of descriptive and closing statistics for a data analysis and showed results in form of tables and diagrams. The results showed that both awareness of breast self-examination among was poor, as was it is implementation. Nevertheless, they all feel there should be more available information. The majority of students got the information from health workers; yet think they should get more. The knowledge of high school students regarding selfexamination is not satisfactory. Health workers should perform more activities to raise awareness, which would consequently lead to greater execution of self-examinations. The students need to be motivated to do this.
