Primerjava terorističnih organizacij Boko Haram in Al Shabaab

Abstract

Namen diplomskega dela je analizirati teroristični organizaciji Boko Haram in Al Shabaab ter ju nato med seboj primerjati na podlagi izbranih indikatorjev. Obe organizaciji sta odgovorni za teroristična dejanja, ki so povzročila veliko število smrtnih žrtev, ranjenih, beguncev, notranje razseljenih oseb ipd. Naraščajoči trend terorističnih napadov ostaja velik varnostni izziv za oblikovalce politike v Afriki, posledično pa se je povečala tudi prisotnost mednarodne skupnosti. V uvodnem delu diplomskega dela sem predstavil identifikacijo problema, cilje, raziskovalno vprašanje in metodologijo. V nadaljevanju sem opisal temeljne pojme, kot so terorizem, verski terorizem, ekstremizem, radikalizacija in džihadizem, nato pa analiziral teroristični organizaciji Boko Haram in Al Shabaab na podlagi izbranih indikatorjev (nastanek, ideologija, rekrutiranje, financiranje, trendi nasilja). V zadnjem delu diplomske naloge sem organizaciji primerjal in v zaključku odgovoril na raziskovalno vprašanje. Ugotovil sem, da sta si teroristični organizaciji Boko Haram in Al Shabaab, ki sta si na prvi pogled zelo podobni, v resnici različni. Res je, da imata podobne ideologije, vendar pa pri podrobnejši analizi in primerjavi lahko ugotovimo, da obstajajo bistvene razlike, na primer že pri njunem samem nastanku, kot tudi pri financiranju in rekrutiranju.

Secondary abstract:	The purpose of the this doploma is to analyze the terrorist organizations Boko Haram and Al Shabaab and then compare them with each other on selected indicators. Both organizations are responsible for terrorist acts that have caused large numbers of deaths, injuries, refugees, internally displaced persons, etc. The growing trend of terrorist attacks remains a major security challenge for policy makers in Africa, and consequently the presence of the international community has increased. In the introductory part of the diploma work, I presented the problem identification, goals, research question and methodology. I went on to describe basic concepts such as terrorism, religious terrorism, extremism, radicalization, and jihadism and then analyzed the terrorist organizations Boko Haram and Al Shabaab based on selected indicators. In the last part of the diploma, I compared the organizationd and finally answered the research question. I have found that the terrorist organizations Boko Haram and Al Shabaab, which are very similar at first glance, are in fact different. It is true that they have similar ideologies, but on closer analysis and comparison we can see that there are significant differences, for example in their very origin, as well as in funding and recruitment.
