Abstract
Mali deževniki z reke Drave so gnezdišča v povprečju zapustili 30. junija.

migration patterns of Little Ringed Plover (Charadrius dubius) from Slovenia using geolocator tagging |
Secondary abstract: |
Between 2016 and 2017, migration patterns of Little Ringed Plover (Charadrius dubius) were studied on river Drava between city of Maribor and village Središče ob Dravi. 17 birds were traped using walk-in traps placed on nest and equipped with geolocators in 2016. Using the same method we recaptured 8 birds in 2017 and recovered 7 sets of complete data (one set was lost because of device failure few days after deployment in 2016). Ambient light data was analysed using BASTRACK softwere which yielded two locations per day. Using determinated stop-overs and winternig sites we described migration patterns of Little Ringed Plover. Little Ringer Plovers breeding on river Drava left breeding ground on average on June 30th. Important stopovers were Mediteranean coastal wetlands, but also continental wetland of the Balkan peninsula, Turkey and North Africa. One individual wintered in Tunisia, one in Egypt and five in a rather small area west of Lake Chad. Wintering period lasted on average 173,6 days. Migration strategy of Little Ringed Plover is a hop strategy and spring migration is much faster then fall migration, due to shorter stopovers (on average 11,8 and 72,9 days respectively). On average birds returned to the breeding grounds on March 27th. Entire lenght of the migration track was on average 7285,3 kilometers. |
