Abstract

Secondary title: Comparison of energy consumption in sports activities of 1st grade primary school children under the leadership of a PE teacher and without it
Secondary abstract: The purpose of present master's thesis was to determine the differences in energy consumption in the physical activity of Grade 1 children, depending whether physical education (PE) was taken by a PE teacher or classroom teacher. We were also interested in gender differences in energy consumption. We used BodyMedia SenseWear accelerometer to obtain data. The sample consisted of 27 children (16 boys and 11 girls), aged 6 years. Data were processed using the statistical program IBM SPSS. Independent samples t-test was used to test the hypotheses. The research showed that there are no statistically significant differences in energy consumption depending on whether the lesson is taken by a PE teacher or classroom teacher. We did not find differences between boys and girls in energy consumption, moreover differences were not significant between all other included variables, such as step count and physical activity duration.
